Marbella is one of the most important tourist resorts on the Costa del Sol and throughout the year it is an international tourist attraction, due primarily to its fantastic micro-climate and superb infrastructure. It sits between the towns of Mijas Costa and Estepona, between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Sierra Blanca, on the western part of the Costa del Sol.

Marbella is divided into three different district areas: Marbella east, Marbella centre and Marbella west.

Marbella east is composed by Artola, Cabopino, Carib Playa, Costabella, Marbesa, Hacienda Las Chapas, Elviria, El Rosario, Los Monteros and Río Real. This area of the coast is well known for its wonderful sandy beaches, considered one of the best of the Costa del Sol and the beautiful and tranquil residential areas.

Marbella centre is composed by the Casco Antiguo (Old Town) of Marbella, Sierra Blanca and the Golden Mile. In the old town of Marbella we find the ancient city walls, the Moorish Castle, its famous Plaza de Los Naranjos (Orange Square), the town hall (built in 1568) and the beautiful chapel of Santiago. Here there is a labyrinth of tiny streets filled with tapas bars, restaurants and shops. Another famous square by the Old Town is La Alameda Park, which is filled with exotic plants and trees. Heading down from this square towards the south, we find the Paseo Marítimo (Promenade), which is considered one of the most beautiful ones on the coast. This area of Marbella is most popular amongst local residents.

Above the centre of Marbella and the Golden Mile, we find the urbanisation of Sierra Blanca, which is located on the foothills of La Concha Mountain. This exclusive area is extremely popular because of its low-density built, proximity to the town centre and due to the fact that most properties enjoy the most impressive views. Although in this area we find mostly independent villas, there are still a few new developments where we can find luxury townhouses and complexes with amazing apartments.

One could not speak of Marbella centre, without mentioning the Golden Mile. The Golden Mile is famous for being the home of the most emblematic hotels in Marbella, The Marbella Club Hotel and the Puente Romano Hotel and for being the home of some of the most exclusive properties on the Costa del Sol, including the mansion of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family.

In Marbella west, we find Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucia, San Pedro de Alcántara, Guadalmina Alta and Guadalmina Baja. This area is well known for being a millionaire's playground and for having the highest concentration of top quality golf courses in Europe. The area is also known for having some of the most exclusive designer boutiques and for its glamorous nightlife.

Whether you are considering buying a holiday apartment on the beachfront, a penthouse with sea views, a townhouse in a gated complex, a luxury villa for permanent residence or a building plot, Sur Estates, has the widest selection of quality properties for sale in Marbella to cater for all tastes and budgets.
