Paradises and Landscapes in the Carmen Thyssen Collection

The Paradises and Landscapes in the Carmen Thyssen Collection, from Brueghel to Gauguin Exhibition, will take place from the 31st of March until the 7th of October 2012 in the Museo Carmen Thyssen situated in Málaga.

This exhibition curated by Lourdes Moreno, will offer an interesting tour of landscape painting from the seventeenth to mid-twentieth century through important parts of the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection. The show aims to analyse the representation of nature as paradise, often idealized, others represented in a picturesque or even naturalistic manner and always from a poetic point of view.

The set will collect about 40 works by artists such as Jan Brueghel the Elder, François Boucher and Carlos de Haes, with special presence of American landscape painters of the nineteenth century as Martin Johnson Heade and Frederic Edwin Church, not to mention the great masters of modernity, among them Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin and Camille Pissarro.

The Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

Ticket prices are 4€ for the general public, while for the permanent collection & temporary exhibition, the price is 8€.  Reduced prices (with proof of status) are available for visitors aged over 65, pensioners, students aged under 26, large families, unemployed and handicapped visitors.  Free entry for accompanied children aged under 12.
