Fuengirola

Fuengirola is one of the most popular tourist towns on the Costa del Sol and it is located between Benálmadena and Mijas Costa.

The origins of this town have Phoenician, Carthaginian, Roman and Moorish roots, as most towns on the Costa del Sol. Fuengirola is well-known for its Moorish castle, Sohail, which sits on the top of a hill just outside the town and is unique in its style.

From the early 1960s, Fuengirola has turned from a tiny finish village, into a cosmopolitan town with urban character. Today tourism is one of the most important industries in Fuengirola, with its 8 km of splendid beaches, seaside promenade and endless attractions.

In this town you will find the facilities of a major tourist centre: restaurants, bars, cinemas, children's play parks, night clubs, sports clubs, etc. There is also a large shopping complex, the Parque Miramar Shopping Centre.

Fuengirola and its surrounding areas, such as Los Boliches, Los Pacos, Torreblanca and Torrequebrada are very popular places to buy property, particularly due to its easy access by public transportation with good bus and rail service options to and from Malaga and its airport, and a bus service to Marbella, to the west, and beyond.
