Manilva is located between Estepona and Sotogrande. Although Manilva is still in the province of Malaga, it is its most westerly point before you enter the province of Cadiz.

Within the municipality of Manilva, there are two main areas, the seaside resort which is composed by San Luis de Sabinillas, Puerto de la Duquesa (La Duquesa Port) and Castillo de la Duquesa (The Duchess Castle) and the charming white-washed village of Manilva, located just 3 kilometres up a hill from the coast.

The origins of this town go back to prehistoric times and have Phoenician, Carthaginian, Roman and Moorish roots, as most towns on the Costa del Sol. There are many archaeological sites found scattered around the municipality.

San Luis de Sabinillas (known locally as Sabinillas) was traditionally a fishing village and over the years it has grown into a town, but retained its Andalucian character. Here there is a more Spanish feel to the place than in La Duquesa Port.

In Sabinillas one can find one of the nicest promenades on the Costa del Sol, which runs through the whole length of the beachside resort. On the seafront there is a wide selection of excellent fish restaurants and tapas bars.

La Duquesa Port is at the heart of community life in this area. It is a working marina and is used by both pleasure craft and local fishermen. The port boasts a wide choice of amenities including a supermarket, banks, an excellent variety of local and international restaurants, bars, cafés and small shops.

The Castillo de la Duquesa area developed around an 18th century fortress. This castle was finished in 1767 and it stands on the coast in the middle of what was once a large Roman fishing village. Today around the tiny fishing borough of El Castillo (as it is known locally), there are a number of quaint bars and restaurants.

On top of the hill, with a backdrop of the Sierra Bermeja Mountains, Manilva is nestled among vineyards and enjoys views across vast expanses of gentle hills separated by streams and valleys towards the coast and Mediterranean Sea.

Whether you are thinking of purchasing an apartment on a bargain new development, a distressed resale villa with fantastic views, a beachfront apartment in La Duquesa port or a bank repossession property, Sur Estates has a fantastic selection of quality properties for sale in Manilva that suits all tastes and budgets.
