The Picasso of Malaga: Earliest Works
The Picasso of Malaga: Earliest Works is the first of three exhibitions held as part of the Málaga Picasso Museum´s 10th Anniversary celebrations which started yesterday and run until the 9th of June 2013.
This exhibition brings together an amazing collection of 53 paintings from Picasso’s childhood and youth, along with a selection of works produced in his later years.
In these first Pablo Picasso´s paintings, visitors will find portraits of family and friends, landscapes, bullfighting scenes and copies of other artworks which will allow visitors to see the evolution of the artist who gradually moved away from his early academic style and gained a freedom that would lead him to become of the greatest artists of the 20th century.
The Picasso of Malaga: Earliest Works displays as well paintings from other artists who also replicated the artistic atmosphere in Malaga during that period. Some of the artists also included in this exhibition are Antonio Muñoz Degrain, Joaquín Martínez de la Vega, José Denis Belgrano and the artist’s own father, José Ruiz Blasco.
The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with the Picasso Museum of Barcelona, and it has been enhanced thanks to contributions from Museo de Málaga, the Museo del Prado, the Pablo Ruiz Picasso Foundation and the National Library of Spain, as well as some international museums and private collectors from Málaga.
The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00am to 8:00pm, except from Friday and Saturday which is open until 9:00PM. Ticket prices start at €4. For more information, you can visit the website of the Malaga Picasso Museum.
