Edificio El Faro

The complex El Faro, located in Estepona Port is one of those emblematic buildings located in the Marina of Estepona.  El Faro, as it is known locally, sits on a beachfront position, between the Estepona lighthouse and the bullring.

This complex takes the name after the Punta Doncella Lighthouse which was first built in 1861 by Engineer Antonio Molina.  Back then the lighthouse was circular and had a height of 8,5 meters.

The Estepona Lighthouse together with the Punta Almina Lighthouse (located in Ceuta) are of great importance, as they issue two luminous signals that help maritime traffic pass through the strait of Gibraltar.
Due to its importance, the first lighthouse was replaced in 1922, by the current lighthouse, which now has an octagonal shape, its 20 meters high and sits 31 meters above sea level.  After all the improvements, the Estepona Lighthouse has a scope of vision of 18 nautical miles (approximately 33 kilometers).

The Edificio El Faro in Estepona is also located next to the Estepona town hall.  There are 2 main entrances to the complex, one through Avenida del Carmen (also known as the north entrance) and the southern entrance, which can be accessed by the promenade.

The Edificio El Faro is very centrally located, only a few hundred meters from El Cristo Beach and less than a minute walk from Playa de la Rada.  The old town of Estepona is less than 10 minutes walk.  Within a short walking distance, you will find several shops (supermarkets, butchers, pharmacies, hairdressers, etc), bars and restaurants, many of which are the favorites for locals and holiday makers alike.   Just below the building you will also find a park and a bus stop which can take you to different parts of Estepona, Marbella and connect to the airport or Malaga city.

The complex has a “U” shape facing the sea and the lighthouse and it surrounds the communal pool.  The Edificio El Faro is divided in 5 blocks and has a height of 6 floors, which sit above several shops.

The Blocks 1 and 5 are the closest located to the sea and the lighthouse, providing some of the most amazing views one can find in Estepona.  It is quite normal to be able to see the African coast from most of the terraces and in winter months, one can even see the lights of Gibraltar, the lights of the lighthouse of Punta Almina or even Ceuta.  The two blocks can be accessed directly by the parking area and the main entrance, although the most used entrance is located on the promenade, next to the lighthouse.  Most of the apartments in these blocks are south, southeast or southwest facing.

Block 4 of Edificio el Faro can also be accessed from the promenade, although the main entrance to the building is the most commonly used.  Block 4 is also a south facing block and some apartments face also the east.

Blocks 2 and Block 3 are located next to the main entrance of Edificio el faro, some of these face north and depending on the height within the building, they will have views towards the bullring and Sierra Bermeja.   Other apartments in

Blocks 2 and 3 face east and west and provide a pleasant view.

Puerto Paraíso

Puerto Paraíso is a development located in the beautiful Marina of Estepona. This urbanization was built in the mid-80s and is known for its four towers (which are more than 10 stories high) that rest on a beachfront position in the Marina.

A curious fact, that most of the people who do not reside there do not know, is that the Puerto Paraíso Urbanization, is not only composed of 4 buildings that can be seen from different parts of the port, but that this urbanization is composed by different 8 blocks.

Four of them are located in the upper part, where Block 1 is located in the end part of the port (towards the west), let’s say closer to the well-known Playa del Cristo, followed by blocks 2 and 3 that are located in the middle of the urbanization and block 4 which is situated the most oriental part, in the main entrance of the Puerto Deportivo de Estepona, between Avenida del Carmen and Calle Luis Braille.

Below these 4 buildings, we also find blocks 5, 6, 7 and 8, which are located above different shops and restaurants. The apartments located in blocks 5 and 6 have an entrance from Luis Braille street, while blocks 7 and 8 of the Puerto Paraíso urbanization are accessed directly from Avenida del Carmen.

This complex, also has common areas where we find 2 community pools, the first located between blocks 1 and 2, and the second between blocks 3 and 4. These are open from 8:00 AM  until 10: 00 PM and from both swimming pools we can enjoy wonderful views towards the marina, the Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful lighthouse of Estepona, also known as the Punta Doncella Lighthouse.

The Urbanization Puerto Paraíso located in Estepona is ideal to reside in it all year round given that the apartments, most of which have beautiful views of the sea or the Sierra Bermeja mountain are located in an ideal position. Less than a couple of minutes’ walk, we find different bars and restaurants, such as “A la Mar” known for its succulent English breakfasts, the “Viceversa” known for its famous “fish & chip” or the “Sunday Roast” . For typical Andalusian dishes, we recommend the famous tapas of the Halomon bar and the restaurants “La Taberna de Lucia del Puerto” and “La Escollera”, famous for their fresh fish from the local fish market located in the port. Puerto Paraiso is also less than 300 meters from the beach of El Cristo (Blue Flag) and the same distance from the beach of La Rada (also Blue Flag). At less than 2 minutes’ walk from Puerto Paraiso we also find 2 supermarkets, the Supersol which is open every day in the summer months and the Supercor Express that opens every day of the year until 2:00 AM.

In the Puerto Paraiso urbanization, the apartments are very spacious, facing south, east or west. Their sizes range from 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom to 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.

With more than 325 sunny days per year, the owners of apartments in the Puerto Paraíso Urbanization, can rent their homes throughout the year, either with long-term or short-term.   The apartments are usually rented from Easter until the start of classes by families with children. In the months of September, October and November, they are usually rented by golfers from northern Europe.

After more than four months of hard work and reforms, the real estate agency Sur Estates, opened a new office in the Marina of Estepona.

The inauguration took place last May 5th in the presence of clients, friends, colleagues and the beloved Mayor of the Hon. Town hall of Estepona, Don José María García Urbano.

This event was celebrated with dishes specially prepared by some of the favorite restaurants of the team of Sur Estates in Estepona.  Of all the extraordinary dishes we could highlight the Tuna Tartar and Steamed Prawns of the Restaurant “La Taberna de Lucía III” located in the port, the traditional octopus salad of the restaurant “La Escollera”, appetizers composed of magnificent pizzas, focacce and sandwiches of Vitel Toné and salmon from the exquisite Italian restaurant “El Rincón Toscano” and the original canapés created by the “Catering Boats” company of the “Halomón Restaurant” also located in the port.
